Staying Focused

Freshman year so far has been very interesting, I have met a lot of new people with different values, beliefs, interests, and way of being. I have to admit I have also seen and heard some stuff that I never thought was possible. For example, the way some girls in college go wild and have no respect for themselves. I am not judge-mental person though the way a person decides to carry themselves will not affect the way I see them as a person, I just think its crazy. It is not good to judge though I learned that when I was very young. The best thing to do is just give advice and hope the person you are giving it to will take it. Right now the best advice any college student can get I believe its to stay focused on what they came to college for in the first place. That is if it was to further their education, because I do believe some kids did just come to have fun. But those who did not should stay focused on their studies. I am not saying to be a lame and never go out and have fun with your friends, it is very important to get the college experience. Which is going out to house parties, dorm parties, dances in the Marshall center, clubs, movies, football games, etc, things of this sort. But a college student especially a freshman should never loose focus on what they are really here for. Having their priorities in check is one of the best things a college student can do. For example, I like to go out and spend time with my friends, I am not really the club type but I will go once in a while, what you do to enjoy yourself does not really matter it is just important to just chill sometimes and relief some stress you might have build up. As soon as the fun is over though I get back to my school work though because being behind and not turning in assignments is not a good way to start off college. Also remember to always leave time to study because it is very important to study in college.

First Weeks of Freshman Year

I choose to write about freshman year in college because I believe there would be allot to talk about in this topic especially from teenagers because most classify their freshman year in college as the most exciting time of their life.  This is for many reasons such as attending all the events and parties that are going on and most importantly being away from their parents for the first time.  This is time when students feel they have the freedom to do a lot of what they could not do before because they are no longer under their parent’s roof.  Not having to obey their parents and going out without having a curfew is the best feeling for most college freshmen.  I can say this is probably the most anticipating part of college for most students.  I myself am a freshman at the University of South Florida.  So far I like college I do not think it is for some of the same reasons other students have.  This is because other students may love the fact that they are away from their parents and now they can do whatever they want without their parents nagging all the time.  I thought I was also going to be like this but I am realizing that I miss my parents a lot.  I am going to make the best of this opportunity I got though because it is allowing me to expand my studies and also giving me the opportunity to meet a lot new people.   I also like all the events that go on in college.  For example, week of welcome at the University of South Florida was very fun.    The events gave students the opportunity to meet other people and become more comfortable here at the University.  I really like this about USF because most freshman entering college are very nervous about the experience they are about to encounter, I was very nervous myself.  Especially when classes started, I did not know what to expect from my college professors.  After the first weeks of classes I realized college classes are not that bad after all though, you just have to stay focus and have your priorities in check.  Being organized is also another quality that will help you become a successful student in college.  I am not perfect at managing my time but I am working on this quality because it is also a skill you should have.
