First Weeks of Freshman Year

I choose to write about freshman year in college because I believe there would be allot to talk about in this topic especially from teenagers because most classify their freshman year in college as the most exciting time of their life.  This is for many reasons such as attending all the events and parties that are going on and most importantly being away from their parents for the first time.  This is time when students feel they have the freedom to do a lot of what they could not do before because they are no longer under their parent’s roof.  Not having to obey their parents and going out without having a curfew is the best feeling for most college freshmen.  I can say this is probably the most anticipating part of college for most students.  I myself am a freshman at the University of South Florida.  So far I like college I do not think it is for some of the same reasons other students have.  This is because other students may love the fact that they are away from their parents and now they can do whatever they want without their parents nagging all the time.  I thought I was also going to be like this but I am realizing that I miss my parents a lot.  I am going to make the best of this opportunity I got though because it is allowing me to expand my studies and also giving me the opportunity to meet a lot new people.   I also like all the events that go on in college.  For example, week of welcome at the University of South Florida was very fun.    The events gave students the opportunity to meet other people and become more comfortable here at the University.  I really like this about USF because most freshman entering college are very nervous about the experience they are about to encounter, I was very nervous myself.  Especially when classes started, I did not know what to expect from my college professors.  After the first weeks of classes I realized college classes are not that bad after all though, you just have to stay focus and have your priorities in check.  Being organized is also another quality that will help you become a successful student in college.  I am not perfect at managing my time but I am working on this quality because it is also a skill you should have.

  1. I thought the same way! I came all the way to Tampa to get away from home, from my parents, and from all the usual boring stuff. But sometimes I do feel home sick and want to go back but I will never change USF for any other college!! I deffinetly don't regret coming here! I LOVE IT! GO BULLS!!

  2. I am another that feels the same way. I was dying to get out of my house and experience life outside the walls of my parents home. Senior year in high school was a countdown for me. I was constantly thinking of all the new horizons out there to explore. College is definitly a brand new horizon, with many doors to other horizons that are ready to be unleashed. With this in mind, i agree with the importance of priorities and time management. Without keeping in check, all those horizons will disappear real fast. College is an opportunity that shouldn't be wasted.

  4. I definitely agree - organization is extremely important in college. For the most part I am an organized person, but it took me about one week to realize that I really need to improve on my time management skills because I have kind of been behind in some of my work. Sometimes I wish I was living on campus because it sounds like a lot of fun and I think it makes it easier to get involved.

  5. I love how all the text is in pink. But I was thinking about writing my blog about my first year experiences because I feel the same way you do, there is so much to talk about! I felt like there was no stopping me since my parents were around but soon realized that I should manage my time and act more responsible. My first weeks of college were interesting too by trying to get used to this new type of teaching and awckward schedules. Overall my freshman experiences have been wonderful and I still have many more to make.

  7. Geez I feel the same. I thought I wasn't going to miss them as much as I am. Luckily I get to go home every weekend but it's still not the same as being there every weekend. The one thing I miss the most about home is the food. I cannot survive on just eating the food from Argos. After a while you just get tired of it all and want some actual home cooked meals. But besides that freshmen year is a bit stressfull and yeah after a while you start getting the hang of it. I am still in the progress of learning to be organized and how to manage my time because I normally wait till the last minute to finish my homework or I usually forget that I have homework.
