Freshman year so far has been very interesting, I have met a lot of new people with different values, beliefs, interests, and way of being. I have to admit I have also seen and heard some stuff that I never thought was possible. For example, the way some girls in college go wild and have no respect for themselves. I am not judge-mental person though the way a person decides to carry themselves will not affect the way I see them as a person, I just think its crazy. It is not good to judge though I learned that when I was very young. The best thing to do is just give advice and hope the person you are giving it to will take it. Right now the best advice any college student can get I believe its to stay focused on what they came to college for in the first place. That is if it was to further their education, because I do believe some kids did just come to have fun. But those who did not should stay focused on their studies. I am not saying to be a lame and never go out and have fun with your friends, it is very important to get the college experience. Which is going out to house parties, dorm parties, dances in the Marshall center, clubs, movies, football games, etc, things of this sort. But a college student especially a freshman should never loose focus on what they are really here for. Having their priorities in check is one of the best things a college student can do. For example, I like to go out and spend time with my friends, I am not really the club type but I will go once in a while, what you do to enjoy yourself does not really matter it is just important to just chill sometimes and relief some stress you might have build up. As soon as the fun is over though I get back to my school work though because being behind and not turning in assignments is not a good way to start off college. Also remember to always leave time to study because it is very important to study in college.
Hey Mayra, staying focused can really be a challenge sometimes. There is always something going on whether on campus or off. Setting a certain time for studying is curcial to staying focused. Having fun is important because it does relieve stress. The biggest challenge is probably to stay balanced. When you stay balanced you feel better. Great blog!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Iman, keeping balance in the hardest part. Yes, everyone wants to go out and party because this is a totally new experience and everyone is excited about but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't go to class. I believe that going to class, doing homework, and doing well on test is priority one. The rest should come after, but of course always keeping healthy with eating, sleeping, and if possible working out.
ReplyDeleteYou brought up some very good points in your blog! I agree as well, it is so important to find a healthy balance with everything. Since a lot of the different readings/assignments for class aren’t required, but recommended if you want to pass, I have found that it’s difficult to keep up with everything because I keep procrastinating. I just need to keep in mind that college is my first priority because it will determine my career path for the future!
